Opera Bar, lower concourse level, Opera House, Sydney
Friday 28 October
On a beautiful day, Opera Bar offers one of the best vantage points in Sydney to take in our incredible city. The tables spill out further and further away from the bar to the edge of the barrier where tourists line up to have their photos taken and where they have placed soft cushions for those that don't wish to sit at a table.
The food here is average but let's face it you are not visiting for the food - it's the drinks, atmosphere, music and view. I have regularly indulged in the fish and chips with a cool, crisp bottle of white wine. This is the life.
More recently, Opera Bar have promoted the art work of SHAG with monthly postcards detailing the music line up - I am a massive fan of SHAG and was first introduced to his work at a show in the foyer of the Studio in 2003 - so impressed I purchased one of zodiac pieces that hangs proud of place in my living/ dining room.
Friday lunch is packed as is Friday, Saturday and Sundays afternoons/ nights but it's a great place to hang out and also confirms that we live in the best city in the world. The downside - you can't book a table, so be prepared.
